Chocolate Bird Nest on Spoon for Easter

Pin It Now!

After Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day, it's time to move on to the next holiday: Easter. No, I didn't forget about St. Patrick's Day. I just don't have any new idea for it yet.
Same as 99% of my dessert recipes, this chocolate nest is easy to make. It takes very little time, no special tool required and no big mess to clean up after ^,^ It would be a fun project for you and kids to work together!

These are what you need:
1/3 cup chocolate chips, mini chocolate eggs, chocolate sprinkles (the kind you put on ice cream) and  8- 10 plastic spoons (I found these in dollar store)

Here is how- to:

- Microwave chocolate chips at half power for 45 seconds.
- Stir

- Microwave at half power for another 45 seconds.
- Stir until smooth

- Dip spoon in melted chocolate
- Remove extra chocolate from the spoon

- Make sure there is only a thin layer of melted chocolate on the spoon!!!

- Place mini chocolate eggs on the spoon
- Sprinkle chocolate sprinkles

- Give it a few hours to set before serving

PS:
- It would be a cute Easter treat to sent to school!

- You can use different kind of spoons!

- You could also serve these on Mother's Day or baby shower!

- Because there is only a thin layer of chocolate on the spoon, the chocolate eggs on the spoon can be pulled off very easily. I gave these to my son and his friend. The boys ate the eggs first, then they licked the chocolate on the spoon.
I got a even better idea! Why not eat the eggs first, then dip the spoon to a cup of hot chocolate!

Sandwich Owl

Pin It Now!

Here.... a peanut butter sandwich!
It could be any kind of sandwich you like. However, it's easier to keep the wings in place when you use peanut butter.
To make this sandwich owl, you need 2 slices of bread and a little slice of cheese.

- Cut the bread with a egg shape cookie cutter. Don't throw away the crust yet!
- Use the same cookie cutter to cut the top part off. Keep one of the cut off part to make the wings.
- Use straws and scissors to cut all the little parts you need.
- Finally, put the owl sandwich together.
Isn't it one of the cutest sandwiches you have ever seen? Pretty easy to make too! Please give it a try ^,^

Easter Sandwich: Baby Chick

Pin It Now!

One more Easter sandwich idea for you. It's a ham and cheese sandwich! Same as most of my cute food projects, this baby chick is very easy to make.
 - Cut bread, cheese and ham with egg shape cookie cutter
-  Cut the cheese with cookie cutter; cut the bread and carrot with scissors
- I placed my baby chick in this panda sandwich case.

Tips:
-If you are packing this sandwich into a lunch box, don't forget to use some cream cheese to glue the wings and beak  on the chick!
- I use sesame seeds for the eyes.
- Don't throw away the leftover bread, you can use it to create this!

One more thing! Remember the Easy Lunch Box giveaway on this blog last month? Since I still couldn't get hold of the original winner, I had to pick a new one. The new winner of this giveaway is the entry #60 Chika.
Chika, please contact me at tiffany@cutefoodforkids.com. Congratulations!

Babybel Cheese Angry Bird and More!

Pin It Now!

I drove by Future Shop a couple days ago, and I saw a big line up right outside. Later I realized that people were lining up for the new I Pad 2. Are you one of them? ha...I didn't even know who was the Angry Bird until a few weeks ago. When it comes to technology, I'm so far behind. It's like I'm still living in the 90s >,<
This Angry Bird is made from Babybel Cheese, Swiss Cheese, Cheddar and nori (use fruit leather or olive if you have trouble finding nori). It's not difficult to make, but it takes time to cut all the little parts. Hope you like it!
